Duct takeoff by system
Options (supports, wastage, thicknesses, materials, colours) are remembered in this browser automatically. “Save to file” also stores per-project choices (insulation, fitting families, summary ticks).
Section colours
Pick a colour for each section. The choice applies to every system sheet and the Summary sheet.
Support counting (rectangular and round)
Each duct row in the Revit export is treated as one run, so spacing is checked per run instead of on the pooled length. Short pieces between fittings each get their own end supports in the first mode; use the second mode if your rows are fitting-to-fitting segments of one continuous run.
Rectangular supports
Pick a hanger type. Sizes are picked by the duct's largest side. Bar / channel / strap is rounded up to supplier standard lengths.
Trapeze (angle bar or strut channel): 1 cross member (largest side + 2 × allowance) · 2 threaded rods · 2 expansion bolts · 4 nuts · 4 washers. Strap hanger: 1 strap (duct perimeter + 2 × allowance) · 2 expansion bolts. Wall bracket: 1 angle (largest side + 2 × allowance) · 2 expansion bolts. Bracket + wrap-around strap (near walls / columns): the bracket above + 1 strap around the duct + 2 bolt & nut sets. Supports per duct = ROUNDUP(length ÷ spacing). Rod settings only apply to trapeze types.
Round duct supports
Hanger + fasteners. Sizes are picked by the duct diameter. Band is rounded up to supplier standard lengths.
Band + rod type: each support = 1 band loop (π × diameter + 2 × allowance) · 2 threaded rods · 2 expansion bolts · 4 nuts · 4 washers. Angle bar trapeze: 1 angle bar (diameter + 2 × allowance) · 2 rods · 2 expansion bolts · 4 nuts · 4 washers. Wall bracket + wrap-around band: 1 angle bar + 1 band loop · 2 expansion bolts · 2 bolt & nut sets. Strap / wire type: each support = 1 loop + 2 fasteners. Supports per duct = ROUNDUP(length ÷ spacing).
Pipes are counted by length only: no gauge, sheets or tons. Sizes are read as nominal DN (inch sizes such as 2-1/2" are converted to DN65).
Pipe supports
Spacing and rod size are picked by the pipe DN and the material class. SMACNA’s hanger tables cover ducts; for piping SMACNA refers to MSS SP-58 / SP-69 hanger spacing (water service), which this preset follows. Edit any value.
Supports are counted per pipe run (each row of the pipe export): ROUNDUP(length ÷ spacing) + 1 with end supports, or without the +1 / pooled by size via the Support counting setting. Rod-hung types (clevis, split ring, band, spring, roller): 1 hanger · 1 threaded rod · 1 expansion bolt · 2 nuts · 2 washers per support. Trapeze: supports ÷ pipes per trapeze = trapezes (use 2 for a supply + return pair); each has 1 strut channel of the trapeze length · 2 rods · 2 bolts · 4 nuts · 4 washers, plus 1 pipe clamp per pipe support. Wall bracket: 1 angle · 1 U-bolt · 2 nuts · 2 expansion bolts. J-hanger, strap and saddle: 1 item · 2 fasteners. Insulated systems add 1 shield / saddle per support. Use band hangers or saddles on insulated lines, spring hangers for vibration or vertical movement, roller hangers for axial expansion, and J-hangers / straps only on small light pipes. Riser clamps (vertical pipe) are not included because the schedule has no vertical / horizontal split; count them per floor. Flexible hose uses half the steel spacing (edit the support table to suit the product). Plastic spacing is a typical value for PVC / PPR at chilled water temperature; check the manufacturer’s table.
